Anno Domini presents...

SPECTRUM an exploration of the never ending possibilities of an amazing material.

SPECTRUM glass exhibition

Glass is often a material we take for granted in everyday life. It is what we drink out of, what we see through, what we see ourselves in, and a vehicle to access media. It has limitless applications. The artists represented in this show utilize a wide variety of processes to create the work presented in the gallery. They are able to mold an everyday material into fantastic things. Whether it is traditional glassblowing, flameworking, casting, alternative print processes, repurposed found objects, or a combination of all of the above, this show illustrates a small slice of how artists are using this amazing material as an expression of their creative vision.

Artists from nearby and around the world are brought together here by glass. San Jose’s tradition of reaching out internationally and forming bonds allows us to advance together. Diversity and openness to new ideas makes San Jose an inspiring place to make art. Glass is a relatively untapped medium for many other artists in the area and we hope that this show will inspire other talented people to explore something new and continue the expansion of the spectrum. We all hold the common goal to always continue to create with glass, and if we embrace our community, our mutual success will unfold.

This exhibition coincides with the Glass Art Society’s 44th Annual International Glass Conference held this year in San Jose. We would like to honor Bennett McKnight. It is in his spirit that we invited our friends together for this show. His welcoming nature and generosity continue to inspire the glass community to share a love of glass and fun with friends. ~Jonathan Yao and Valerie Pohorsky, Spectrum organizers
