brian- hello.

things are very good here. i was on the front cover of the kompas newspaper yesterday.(indonesias equivalent to the new york times, 5 million daily circulation). it was a full color photo of me painting my mural. very cool!

the thing to remember with the tagging here is that it is not at all like tagging in the US. no one has any style. it is just printed names that look quite horrible, but it is the essence of the action that seems some what the same. no one is doing roof tops or pieces or anything remotely beautiful. it has no connection with the mural movement, so therefore would never be appropriate to bring up in a conversation about murals. our relationship with the mayor is such that we would never ask his opinion about something that most likely has an obvious answer. i heard they take you to jail if you get caught here, and basically all the police are corrupt so thus, you pay your way out, or hopefully you have a friend that will. if not you sit in there until they feel like letting you go.

anyway, i have been very busy working on my mural here and it is coming out very good. quite possibly my best mural to date. seems as though i am moving mountains, with some folks here. i have been taking many photos but don't really have any way to send them. the computers here are very slow, and there is no guarantee that stuff will even make it. i am actually starting to wonder if some of my e-mails are reaching their destinatons. at least i know you guys are getting them. the people that are on this trip are myself, alicia, carolyn cooley, aaron noble, megan wilson, and carolyn castano. the artists we are working with are all very well known, respected artists here in indonesia. their group is called apotik komik.

well, i gotta run. is the mural up in downtown san jose yet????? hope all's well with you.
